Hi everyone! The one collection from The Body Shop that has totally mesmerized me is their Spa of the World collection. I can’t stop raving how much I like most things about it. The thought behind it, the packaging and the products themselves are all so amazing. The reason I couldn’t stop at just one when I was shopping from thebodyshop.in when they had great offers running. 🙂 I have already reviewed the Hawaiian Kukui Cream and the Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil on the blog, and today I have the Japanese Camellia Cream from the same range for review.
Product Description :
Camellia oil has been used by Japanese women since the 8th century to gently soften and moisturise skin. The exquisite scent of this pure and elegant flower allows mind and body to reconnect with a moment of profound peace. Use this rich body cream with a light, velvety texture as part of our relaxing ritual when you’re in need of a fast-track to tranquility.
-Makes skin feel beautifully hydrated and delicately scented
-Relaxes body and mind
How To Use :
Smooth on from décolletage to toes until fully absorbed. Expert tip: “Before applying Spa of the World™ Japanese Camellia Cream, warm hands under running water, take a bit of the cream and massage your hands together to warm the cream. Japanese Camellia Cream is ideal to use every day as a body moisturiser.
My Overview of the Product :
As I mentioned in my post here, TBS has categorized its Spa of the World products in three rituals: Blissful, Relaxing and Revitalizing. The Japanese Camellia Cream falls in the Relaxing Ritual category. Like other body creams from this range, the Japanese Camellia Cream too comes housed in a honey colored tub, with a sturdy base and an equally sturdy, matte black screw lid. The labels on each of these products bear a distinct color indicative of the ritual category that they belong to. This cream has lavender color at the end of its label, like other Relaxing ritual products.
There are several things I love about this product apart from its lovely packaging. The fragrance is simply amazing. It has major floral notes that I absolutely love, but the fragrance is not overpowering at all. It is very balanced and has subtle hints of a nutty aroma too. A whiff of this actually transports me to a virtual world – amidst endless fields of flowers and streams of fresh water flowing, with mountain forests at a distance. 😀 The fragrance to me is nothing short of heavenly and it soothes and relaxes my senses as well. I can totally vouch for its placement in the Relaxing ritual category now. 🙂
The texture of the TBS Japanese Camellia Cream is nothing like I have ever used before! It has a fluffy, mousse texture, that feels so airy and feather light. The cream is very easy to apply and gets absorbed almost instantly. It does not leave behind any greasy residue and imparts a subtle coolness to the skin that feels “relaxing” indeed. 🙂 The skin feels soft and supple, and feels sufficiently hydrated. It is so perfect for our tropical summers, and particularly for those who have to endure a lot of humidity in their air for a major part of the year.
The Japanese Camellia Cream stays put for a good many hours in summers, but it may fall short of adequately moisturizing in the drier months. That is when the Hawaiian Kukui Cream (Blissful ritual) comes to rescue. However if layered over an oil from the same range, normal or dry skin can enjoy the Japanese Camellia cream even in winters. The reason the Japanese Camellia Cream feels so lightweight on the skin is because of the inherent property of Camellia Japonica seed oil. It is known to absorb quickly and easily in the skin, while providing adequate hydration. It is rich in antioxidants as well. This cream also has the goodness of Mango and Shea, both of which are renowned skincare experts. 🙂
The Final Verdict :
The Body Shop Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Cream is a beautiful product to possess. I’m a self-proclaimed bath and body addict, and hence regard this cream as a valuable addition to my stash. It has a sturdy yet aesthetic packaging and a gorgeous fragrance. The cream is non-greasy and easily absorbed on the skin. I use it on damp skin post bath, and it lasts for a good many hours. Even the quantity is huge and it would last me months. It calms my senses, and soothes my skin. I would say this product stands tall in every claim that TBS makes about it (read Product Description). It is worthy of all the hype. 🙂 If you are looking for an outstanding summer moisturizer, you can think of giving this a try. Do give it a sniff the next time you visit a TBS store! 🙂
