Hi people! How you all doin’? Winter is paving way to the spring, and I’m elated! Winters call for a change in my skincare routine, and this year winter has been harsh. So I was really having trouble with my skin, and tried using as many organic products as I could to help my skin cope up with the dryness.
A major switch was in the toner, and I started using the Plum Chamomile and White Tea Calming Anti-oxidant Toner. I had been religiously using the toner for type 3 skin from Clinique that worked great in extreme humidity, but the drier months needed something gentler. Hence cult-favorite, vegan, chemical-free Plum. 🙂

I have said before I adore brands that come out and about their product ingredients and other small details, to help consumers choose better. Plum certainly wins a badge here. 🙂
Price : INR 390 for 200ml. I bought mine on an offer from Nykaa.
My Experience with Plum Chamomile and White Tea Calming Anti-oxidant Toner :
The packaging of this product is unlike any toner I’ve ever used. I’ve used flip tops, detachable screw caps and nozzles, but this packaging is very unique. And yet so convenient. You just need to press open the cap on the ridge, and the mouth pops up from the other end. It is more convenient than describing it. 😀 However on a few occasions it may be difficult to control the amount of liquid dispensed, but you’ll get the hang. I feel the packaging is quite travel-friendly too.
The bottle itself is made of sturdy plastic, and bears the orange-white color theme of the Chamomile & White Tea range. The ingredients, methods to use are clearly mentioned in a very readable font (yes this matters, when I’m straining my eyes to read the details) on the label. I find the aesthetics of the packaging of with Plum Chamomile and White Tea Toner quite neat yet tasteful.
When I first used this toner, I wasn’t quite accustomed to its consistency. It actually has a very water-like consistency. So much so that I was almost skeptical about its effectiveness. Well you can’t blame me, it was my first tryst with an alcohol-free toner! 😀
So I used a cotton ball to soak in the toner, and wiped it across my face. Although the directions say to splash it on your face, I have mostly used it as an extra step of cleansing. The cotton ball picked up a fair amount of dirt from my skin, and finally I was convinced this is just as good a toner as alcohol-based ones. Additionally, this toner hydrates. Oh yes it does. I gently tap in the excess liquid left on my skin till it gets completely absorbed. It is like I had nothing on my skin, yet it relieves dryness post cleansing like a pro. The fragrance is pleasant and mild, quite likeable!
The Plum Chamomile and White Tea Calming Anti-oxidant Toner is super-gentle on the skin, and treats the stretchiness on my skin just as well as it controls oil on my T-zone (you know the boon and bane of having an oily-combination skin?) I also use it before using a face mask, so that the goodness from the mask seeps well inside my skin. It hasn’t ever broken me out because this is hydrating and absorbs in the skin, giving it a moisture boost without making it greasy. Thank goodness for that because I had already been suffering from quite a few pimples, and this toner doesn’t sting or make them any worse. Including this in my winter skincare routine has also helped me keep tanning at bay. It has worked well in combination with other products I have been using in my daily skincare regimen.
A look at the ingredients :
(The below information is again from the official website of Plum)
Chamomile has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Besides, it is also highly soothing to the skin, and is considered to have the ability to neutralise skin irritants.
White tea extracts
Being especially rich in antioxidants, white tea extracts helps the skin fight oxidative damage that results from sun exposure
Aloe leaf juice
Great to calm, heal and soothe the skin in all seasons, thanks to its unique nutrient profile of 200+ phyto-nutrients.
Everything that’s inside: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Matricaria recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Camellia sinesis (White Tea) Extract, Gingko biloba Leaf Extract, Olea europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Aspalathus linearis or Rooibos Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinesis or Green Tea Leaf Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aloe barbadensis (aloe) Leaf Juice, Menthol, Niacinamide, Fragrance, FDA Approved Colours
Wow so this has green tea leaf extract as well! This is a lot of goodness inside a bottle. I haven’t noticed any anti-ageing benefits with this product, mostly because I wasn’t looking to address any such concerns. But if you’re getting signs of ageing, you might as well switch over to this toner. Because it claims to contain Ginkgo biloba that has excellent anti-ageing benefits, in addition to protecting the skin against sunburn and treating inflammation. I have been using the 200 ml bottle of toner twice-a-day, over the past 2.5months and still some quantity is left. So it lasts really well too. 🙂
The Final Verdict :
The Plum Chamomile and White Tea Calming Anti-oxidant Toner is a decent toner you can easily include in your daily CTM routine. Easily because it has no harsh chemicals so you don’t need to think twice about side-effects, and it is relatively affordable as well, when bought on a discount. It is really gentle on the skin, has a sturdy and convenient packaging, cleanses and hydrates, and has a pretty mighty ingredient list. It has helped my skin in ways more than one. The changes might be too small to notice on a daily basis, but I do feel it has helped maintain my overall skin health over the months. However I will switch my toner again once the hotter months set in.
The only con might be what I faced initially in controlling the amount of the product dispensed. Else there’s nothing not to love about this toner. I will recommend this for oily-combination skin in the winters, and as Plum says, it will work great throughout the year if your skin is on the drier side. Perfect for mature skin as well!
