Hey everyone! Hope you are doing good. Our Day 2 at Shillong was mostly spent at Mawlynnong, Dawkiand the very famous living roots bridge. I was really looking forward to visiting Mawlynnong which is the cleanest village in Asia. And of course the living roots bridge falling in the same itinerary as Mawlynnong. 🙂
Find photos of my Day 1 trip at Cherrapunji here. 🙂
Hi everyone! My Envy Box reached me about a week back when I had shared the pictures on my insta handle. However a very busy personal front got me penning down the whole review finally now. 🙂
Ever since MEB started releasing teasers for its July Box, I was hooked. 😀 The primary reason was the green clay mask and the Cocoonface serum that came with high claims. There were also the Anatomicalssamples (although samples don’t excite me much) which I wanted to try. And lastly the color of the box – GREEN. Ahem, do you think I need more convincing? 😀
Hey everyone! So Dunkirk’s the word. Christopher Nolan’s movies are awaited, and are awaited big time. I’m one of the many who swear by his movies. So when Dunkirkhit the theaters, I knew I had to be there. 🙂 So off I went last evening notwithstanding the exhaustion of an eventful working day.
And let me tell you, the movie touched my heart. Nolan is the cinematic wizard who makes pure beauty. His vision has clarity that sees you through. The way he captures the raw emotions of countless soldiers trapped in enemy territory is a masterpiece in itself. Nolan’s Dunkirk is reality glaring at your face.
The story revolves around the evacuation of 400000 men trapped in Dunkirkduring World War 2. It tells how these men hope with all their might to return home safe amidst incessant bombarding by the German airforce. It talks about their plight, their hopes, and their struggle with fate to stay alive. Here is where you realize Darwin’s theory doesn’t hold good. Because it’s not the survival of the fittest, rather the luckiest.
I do not have the demeanor to judge critical aspects of the movie. I can only express my amazement at how deftly Nolan weaved a story out of human emotions. The desperation of thousands of trapped soldiers craving to reach “home”. The rat-race that each of them get involved in looking for evacuation. Crude sentiments. So humane that you could relate to. The ones that went for evacuation risking their lives in the water, or the ones that shot down Luftwaffes in the air so that their brethren could be set free. Every emotion carved out beautifully forms the heart of Dunkirk.
Hi everyone! So I’m finally here. It’s been a long time I wrote something. However if you happen to follow my instagram handle @ambersityblog, you’ll know mostly what I’ve been up to. 😀 Having a busy time on the personal front, so really couldn’t make time to scribble. Sorry for that. However I do have a series of posts lined up for you from my trip to Shillonglast week. 🙂 Hope it comes out useful to those of you looking for a vacay there.
Planning for the abode of the clouds in the prime monsoon season came with its risks. But I had decided upfront not to let it dampen my spirits. 😀 Even if it rained, I was prepared to spend my days indoors sipping on flavorful Assam tea and lazing my day out amidst mountains. 🙂 Thankfully though, the rains were merciful during our stay there. In fact the waterfalls were in full flourish that made me oh-so-happy about my decision.
The series Meghalaya Diaries on the blog will be primarily divided into three parts. This is to not place a lot of content in a post. And make things easier for you. 🙂 Believe me when I say that I will keep my posts brief. 😛
Shillong in the foothills of the Himalayas makes for a dreamy destination. We flew down to Guwahati and booked a cab for the capital of the abode of the clouds. Thanks to MMT, we got all our tickets in time and booked our stay with The Habitat Shillong. 🙂
Day 1 : Cherrapunji – Sohra and the Seven Sister Falls
It goes without saying Cherrapunjimakes for a prime sightseeing locale on your trip to Meghalaya. We came across innumerable waterfalls en route to Sohra. With innumerable steps to descend to witness the beauty of every one of them save the Seven Sister Falls, I didn’t realize when my body got tired. Each of the beauties was as enthralling as the other. 🙂
Sohrais touted to be the wettest place on earth. Everything was so cloudy there, that we were literally walking among the clouds.
