My Overview of the Product :
The packaging is signature Nykaa with the cuboidal body and matte black applicator. The only difference with the matte polishes (Almond Crumble and S’mores Milkshake) is that these have the name of the brand written in white. Perhaps to give that light, airy summery feel to it. 🙂 The texture of the nail paint is quite runny and needs at least two full coats to give a decent color payoff.
The color however, is not what I expected it to be. It is paler-than-pale pink, if you know what I mean. I wanted a subtle hue of pink, but it turned out to be much more subtle than I would have liked. 🙁 It is more like a pinch of pink in an otherwise off-white shade. In fact, you may even fail to notice the pink in it if you do not observe very closely. The pink tinge in it is more visible in blue based lights (our regular LEDs), and a little less in yellow ones (which means natural light too). I cannot say I dislike it though, but I was looking for only a little more pink. However Pretty In Pink could be very much your color, it’s purely all about preference. 🙂
The finish is absolute glossy, with the highly reflective surface. The bouncing off of lights from the nails is quite similar to real, soft silk. I quite like the soft, pearly finish. It would pair amazingly with a silk attire, and you can a beautiful pearl ring or bracelet to accentuate the looks of your hands. 🙂 However, the shiny effect is not quite long-lasting. I got a few scratches even on one or two of the nails from the continuous hitting of keyboard. But it did not wear off until day 5. Nykaa nail enamels have a decent staying power. I have never had a bad experience with them, and I’m glad about it. 🙂 Check out the swatches below:
The Final Verdict :
I had a pleasant experience with Nykaa’s matte nail lacquers. That’s the sole reason I bought these “limited edition” nail paints without batting an eyelid. 🙂 The best thing about Nykaa Silk Nail Lacquer in Pretty In Pink, is its amazing finish. I love the dewy, pearly, soft sheen that it imparts to my nails. The staying power is competent enough and the price is humble. I only wish there was just a little more of pink in the lacquer. But it is certainly something different from what I have tried before, and I’m glad Nykaa is innovating so much with its nail paint formulas. 🙂 If you’re in for a pearly nail polish and like any of the colors, you can give this a try.
