My Simple yet Effective Skincare Routine with Suganda : Neem Green Tea Mask, White Lotus Moisturizer Review

Hello people! I had recently shared a simple 2-step skincare routine on my Instagram account. It involves just two products : a powder cleanser-cum-mask, and a moisturizer. Both from a new brand : Suganda. I have been using these for around two weeks now. Not only am I taken aback by their efficacy, but also I’m highly impressed with their aesthetics.

Suganda is a Hyderabad-based brand spearheaded by Bindu Amrutham, who is a natural skincare expert. Her premium skincare brand formulates products with plant extracts infused with essential vitamins.

Bindu suggested me the Neem Green Tea Mask and White Lotus Moisturizer. Both targeted at oily to combination, acne-prone skin types.

My Take on Suganda Neem Green Tea Mask :

The Suganda Neem Green Tea Mask comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a golden screw cap. However do not mistake it to be flimsy. The bottle is rather sturdy and can survive in your travel bags too! Every detail is very clearly mentioned on the labels on the front and back sides. Even the fonts are neat and readable, while the colors and contrast choices are extremely tasteful. The packaging of Suganda products are themed around green, emphasizing their organic and natural formulations, and a cleaner greener planet.

Their packaging indeed deserves special mention. Because the aesthetically pleasing designs give the products a premium look-and-feel. And I’m super impressed!

I essentially use this mask as a powder cleanser. The only difference is that I keep it on for around 3-5 minutes before washing off. The powder is grainy (it contains rice), and you can feel that with your touch. This versatile cleanser can be mixed with honey, curd, water. It can also feature widely in your DIY skincare. However I use it mixed with aloe vera gel + water, or with only The Face Shop Fresh Jeju Lotus Soothing Gel. You can check out my video on using this on my Instagram account.

I’m always careful to not let it parch out on my skin. Hence the time window of 3-5 minutes for using it as a cleanser. The instructions on the packaging clearly prohibits from scrubbing the skin while washing off. Therefore I gently rinse it off with water, lightly massaging in and around my T-zone. The area around my T-zone tends to have few big pores that need thorough cleansing. The mask does not feel harsh, nor does it dry out my skin. 🙂

The green tea in this mask is sourced from the foothills of the Himalayas, rich in “polyphenols“. Polyphenols are a group of antioxidants present in ample amount in green tea leaves. Additionally the rice in this mask draws out all the grime and excess sebum, while neem has excellent anti-bacterial properties. Consequently, this mask/cleanser is excellent for oily to oily-combination skin. It is gentle enough to be used daily; I generally use it in my morning routine.

My Rating : 5/5

My Take on Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser :

The packaging is on point once again. The moisturiser comes in a dark glass bottle with a pump dispenser, and all details clearly mentioned on the label. It all looks very classy, and pretty convenient to use. The dark bottle ensures the contents remain fresh for a longer period of time. I must say Bindu has taken extreme care in designing her products, keeping in mind the minutest details.

The moisturiser has a runny consistency, but is not watery. It is whitish in color and bears a faint herbal odor. I find the fragrance quite refreshing nevertheless. Since the smell is not too strong, it vanishes as soon as I finish application. So even sensitive noses won’t have a problem. 🙂

I need two full pumps of this moisturiser for my face and neck regions. It absorbs in the skin immediately, as if my skin drank up all the hydration from it! Most importantly, it does not leave behind any greasy feeling! The wonderful formula lets my skin breathe and doesn’t clog pores too. And it is so lightweight that I don’t feel I’m wearing anything on my skin at all! What more can I ask for? The Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser feels like one of the best things that happened to my skin. 🙂 😍 Hats off to Bindu for formulating such an amazing product. 🙂

Unlike the Neem Green Tea Mask, this moisturiser can be used 2-3 times a day. As a result, it has become an indispensable part of my skincare routine. I use this as the last step in my night time skincare : my regular cleanser, toner, Organique aloe gel and 1&1/2 pumps of Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser. Waking up to beautiful skin and oil-free T-zone never felt easier!

P.S. : You may ask, why the layering? Answer in a word : Hydration. I always try to increase hydration levels in my skin prior to sleeping. The night is the time when the skin undergoes maximum repairing process. Also air-conditioned environments tend to make the skin drier; never helping with the breakouts, but worsening them, and killing moisture levels in the skin.

The ingredient list of the Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser is pretty powerful. White Lotus flower is rich in Vitamins C & B, antioxidants and minerals. It works amazingly for oily skin : controls sebum production, nourishes and brightens, improves elasticity and overall health of the skin. Additionally the moisturiser contains :

  • Vitamin B3 – restores skin health, works on hyper-pigmentation, enlarged pores and gives a visibly even skin tone.
  • Panthenol or Pro-vitamin B5a provitamin converts to the respective vitamin on absorption in the skin. Vitamin B5 is a humectant, helps reduce loss of moisture or retain optimum moisture levels in the skin.
  • Allantoin – has healing & anti-aging properties, helps soothe the skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – is an exceptional anti-aging ingredient that helps in collagen synthesis and improves skin elasticity.

Devoid of toxic chemicals, this moisturiser is a wonderful product. Furthermore, aqua (water) features first in the list, implying high hydration levels. What could be better for oily skin in tropical climate? 😀

How did Suganda products fare for my skin?

While the Neem Green Tea Mask worked beautifully as a powder cleanser, the White Lotus Moisturiser turned out no less than a boon for my troubled skin. 🙂 The cleanser draws out impurities from deep, reveling a fresh and radiant skin. And the moisturiser hydrates from within layers of the epidermis. Even the simplest 2-step skincare routine with these two products shows visible results on the skin. My skin feels soft and looks healthy. You should check out the video I’ve posted on my Instagram account to know I’m not exaggerating. It is not the kind of glow that highlighters impart,😎 but a subtle, dewy brightness. And all this sans any greasiness!❤️

The Final Verdict :

Suganda may be relatively new to the skincare market, but Bindu has the prowess to understand needs of various skintypes. Her knowledge about what goes into making a skincare product is astonishingly well. You can actually read quite a few things on Vitamin C from Suganda’s website.

To me, the Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser is one the best moisturisers for oily skin in the Indian market today. I love how it works on my troubled, sensitive, and acne-prone skin. The high content of Vitamin Bs in this is just what my skin needs at the moment. The Neem Green Tea+White Lotus Moisturiser combination has turned out quite effective for me. It has greatly improved my skin texture, and the results are pretty evident. Although I’m yet to see how it works in the colder weather, I do highly recommend trying out Suganda. Particularly the White Lotus Moisturizer, if you too are looking for a gentle moisturizer to suit your oily skin! 🙂

Over and above, Suganda definitely earns brownie points for churning out effective products that are also organic, vegan & cruelty-free. 🙂

  1. That’s a nice detailed review. I like the fact that more and more cosmetic brands are using Indian ingredients such as Neem. Also brownie points for eco friendly packaging.

Firstly I loved the pictures, so sharp. I always believe in using herbal products as they mean only good results and no harm. Lovely review.

  3. White lotus moisturiser sounds fascinating to me. Good to know that skin absorbs almost all hydration from it and still it leaves no greasiness. Since it has light weight properties also, I guess I’ll try it soon.

  4. Deepa says:

Anything with organic products is great and these two products look like a great alternative to normal face wash and moisturiser. Would surely try these.
