With every step she took,
The wilderness welcomed her in,
Brown soils beneath slipped away
As birds chirped at a distance,
Ripples of a young river rhymed on
As the mountains echoed her footsteps,
And the dawn peeked through…
On she moved as if in a trance,
Intoxicated by lush smell of the woods,
She wanted to be here all her life,
And today inadvertently she knew
There was no stopping her till she had it all,
And she’d walk on and on
And on, till she bled green…
Hi everyone! The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the color green, is the opulence of nature that exhibits itself in so many forms of the shade. To me, green is safe and green is fresh. It has shades from subtle to vivid. It is cozy and it is startling. Why I decided to do an entire post on “green” today is because I have always found solace in this color, right from childhood. 🙂
I used to be in the green house of my school and the color in some mysterious way, could calm my senses and it continues to do so till today. Being a Harry Potter fanatic, I was kinda upset at first to see Slytherin house bearing the color. But then, Professor Snape was a hero, wasn’t he? 🙂
Being an ardent nature lover, the Himalayan and Nilgiri forests always enticed me. Having spent my childhood in the Chotanagpur plateau and Ganges plains only strengthened my love for greenery. Furthermore I love having plants around, so currently doing my own small study in growing and maintaining indoor plants. It has rained in my city over the past few days (I’m guessing it’s the trailing Northeast monsoons), and it all got me in a “green” mood so why not go green for a post? 🙂
Green in Beauty :
Now-a-days I am quite into natural and organic skincare products, or at least those that have lesser quantity of chemicals or a higher percentage of natural ingredients. Green tea and green veggies, are so highly regarded and advocated in the beauty industry. Green leafy veggies are rich in fiber and green tea rids our bodies of toxins resulting in healthy metabolism and healthy skin and hair.
Green pairs so well with different colors. Any color can be perked up with various shades of green. There are some ethereal and traditional combinations of green-red and green-yellow. While I find quite elegant to pair a green with white, black and even navy blue, it is also quirky and haute to wear a green-orange or a parakeet green with magenta. In addition to basic shades of green, the pastel palette too boasts of a mint green which is a rage now and is a pretty summer wear shade. And of course, a very sophisticated and classic combination comes in green and gold. Either a daytime party look or a nighttime one can be carried in panache with a green-golden attire, making only slight variations in eye and lip makeup. 🙂
Green in my stash at the moment :
I am wearing a pretty basil green shade from Revlon Parfumerie scented nail enamel range in shade Lime Basil. It a delightful, fresh fragrance to it too. My skincare regime has Clinique liquid facial soap from Clinique’s 3-step for oily-combination skin (it is the tube that’s mint green and not the cleanser itself 🙂 ). My green Lakme Eyeconic is one shade I keep going back to. The color is super pretty and exalts my eyes by a notch for a plain daytime look.
There is this pair of lovely green terracotta dangler jhumkis and the Glazed Apple Shimmer Mist from TBS (reviewed here) that are among my faves in my stash. And the Himalayan Charcoal face mask from TBS Superfood mask range is my most-loved this month! Again the mask is itself a mud-brown color, and its label has a jade green shade, which looks so pretty on the dark brown jar. This color however, is a tad difficult to capture on camera. As you may see it appears a little turquoise in the pictures here, but on a closer look in real you could observe the actual color. I have talked about the product here. And again, don’t green and brown sync together beautifully? 🙂
The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector (reviewed here) is another staple in green. The packaging is green and brown while the cream itself is mint green in color.
I also have quite a few greens in my wardrobe and I find it a safe color to resort to when I am utterly confused or run short on time. My Holii bag in bottle green quite comfortably accommodates my daily essentials, with its ample compartments.
The one thing that I’m yet to try is a green smoky eye look, but I am quite keen on it. Have you tried doing a green smoky eye? Which palette did you use?
Last but never the least, let’s vow to plant at least one plant a year to contribute towards a more holistic and eco-friendly living!
