Hi everyone! Maybelline is on a spree launching lip colors in various formulas. Last time I talked about its Creamy Matte range and today I have another interesting formula for review. It’s the Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks in shades Technically Pink and Make Me Blush. 🙂

My Overview of the Product :
Unlike the Creamy Mattes, Maybelline actually color coded the packaging of the Powder Mattes. These have the lipstick covers in the color of the bullet. I kinda prefer this packaging to that of the Creamy Mattes. 🙂 It’s relatively easy to pick up the shade I want from my vanity now with this subtle intelligent addition. The rest of the packaging is pretty similar to their Creamy Matte counterparts that I talked about here.
The shade name is printed at the bottom of the tube while the name and ingredients are printed on the disposable transparent plastic wrapping. I don’t get the idea here. Why would a brand want to print important information on a plastic wrapper? Anyways I’m glad enough with the little change in the Powder Matte packaging from the boring one of the Maybelline Creamy Mattes. 😛
The Powder Matte lipstick glides on easy and feels like butter on the lips. It has a velvety texture and a good color payoff. As I have said before, I vouch for well prepped lips before applying a lip color, particularly a matte one. The finish on the lips looks completely matte and feels a literal “powdery matte”. 😀
These lipsticks are what they claim to be. They feel super light on the lips and I almost forget I’m wearing anything until it starts drying out my lips after a while. Yes they do start feeling a tad drier after a wear time of around 3 hours. This situation is more likely to occur if you’re spending most of the hours in drier environments or in AC. If you can find ways to cope up with that, these lipsticks last you a good 4-5 hours. The Creamy Mattes last longer.
What I love about the Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks is their unbelievably lightweight and buttery texture. That too on a budget. 🙂 These feel so amazingly comfortable on the lips. The Maybelline Powder Matte lipsticks do not tug at the lips while applying, and has superb pigmentation. However these start clinging to the dry flakes on the lips towards the end of wear time, the reason I so vehemently suggest prepping the lips.
THE SHADES :
Make Me Blush – This is a warm peachy coral shade. Now this is a shade that I have to be super careful with application. The pigmentation is so intense that if I go overboard with this shade, it will wash out my NC 40 complexion, or look too neon. With some blotting however, Make Me Blush makes for a pretty daytime summer wear.
Technically Pink – One of my favorite pinks this season! I totally love the vibrant pink shade that instantly perks up my look. It is not a fuchsia or a stark in-your-face kind of pink, but a subtle true one. A beautiful everyday summer shade, perfect for the breezy evenings or a first date. 😀 After my favorite TBS Matte Lip Liquids, Maybelline Powder Matte Technically Pink is a close second for me in the summers. 🙂
I am wearing the shade Technically Pink here :
The Final Verdict :
With the Powder Matte Lipsticks, Maybelline has added up to the ongoing lipstick revolution that’s raging on in the beauty world. Every major brand is bringing up new and innovative lipstick formulas from high end ones to drugstore ones. The Powder Matte lippies are an affordable bunch as well. I quite like the light, airy Powder Mattes and how comfortable they feel on the lips. They give a good enough color pay off in a single swipe over the lips and have a decent wear time too. Only that they tend to get a bit drying on the lips after the initial hours of wear. Also I wish Maybelline brings about some variation in its packaging!
My Rating : 4/5
Have you tried any of the Maybelline Powder Matte Lipsticks? What do you think of them?
