Hi everyone! Maybelline came up with a new launch of lipsticks earlier this year – the Creamy Matte lipsticks. I picked up two shades for myself – All Fired Up (shade no. 687) and Siren In Scarlet (shade no. 690). And before I proceed, there’s another new launch from Maybelline very recently – the Powder Matte lipsticks. I must say Maybelline is bringing forth quite a few matte lipstick formulas for its users to try, and that’s really commendable. 🙂

My Overview of the Product :
The Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks come in a lightweight steel body with a translucent matte grayish-brown click on lid. The shade name and number are mentioned in a label at the bottom of the tube, that bears the color of the lipstick. Unexpectedly though you do not find the “Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick” written anywhere on the body. It’s the appearance that marks these lipsticks distinct. I think the packaging could be improved by a notch.
The lipsticks have a sweet, near-coconutty and vanilla fragrance which I find a bit artificial. But it’s not overpowering so sensitive noses won’t have a problem. However it’s the pigmentation of these lippies that definitely deserves a thumbs up. The color payoff is insane on just one swipe! I do not actually need even two coats if I’m not gearing up for a gaudy party look. 🙂 Moreover, these don’t feel very drying on the lips on initial application. The creamy texture can be attributed to the presence of sesame oil in these. I can say these comfortably hug your pout throughout the wear time. 🙂
On a single coat the Maybelline Creamy Matte lipsticks have a decent staying power. These stay for around 3-4 hours on my lips, with a beverage and snacks. However on well-prepped lips and an extra added layer, these can last on for 5-6 hours on an average, with light snacks only. This is because these do not survive very heavy meals unless you’re tremendously careful. 😀 The color starts fading from the center of the lips, so you need to re-apply after a meal. Even though these lipsticks do not bleed, they do transfer a lot. But good thing is, the rich pigmentation makes sure the color is never completely gone. These leave behind a light stain on the lips, unless I remove it with my makeup remover. 🙂
The Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks make for a comfortable wear. These do not tug on the lips, and the bullet guides on pretty smooth to give that color-rich pout. However, the colors do not look matte immediately. They take quite some time to dry down and give a near-matte appearance. Moreover, make sure you do not over-prep or under-prep your lips. On under-prepped lips, these start feeling somewhat dry and flaky after around 2 hours, while excessive use of lip balm would further delay the coming of matte look on the lips.
About the Shades :
All Fired Up – This is a gorgeous pink shade which looks different on different skintones. This is the shade that can perk up your face. On me it looks a true bright pink and I absolutely love this shade.
Siren In Scarlet – This is a very pretty blue based red, that will suit most skintones. On me it looks a tad closer to the iconic Ruby Woo only shade wise. But Ruby Woo is darker (more blue-er?) and more intense. It’s not an exact dupe in any way, but is a lovely wearable red for weddings and festivities. 🙂
The Final Verdict :
The Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks are an exciting bunch of lippies in the market at the moment. Without being over-drying, these manage to give a decent matte finish to the lips. The pigmentation is amazing, and the wear time is good enough. However these may feel little uncomfortable and flaky after hours of wear without a touch up. And hence, may tug at flaky lips at the time of removal. I wish Maybelline surprises us with some interesting packaging too, just as it does with the formula of its new launches. Overall, the Creamy Matte formula from Maybelline could be good for those who tend to avoid matte in general, owing to dry or chapped lips. But the pout-mantra is that when the lipstick says matte, never wear it without prepping your lips! 🙂
My Rating : 4/5
