Hi everyone! Today I will do a detailed review of the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold, and also a comprehensive swatch comparison with Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. I had received the L’Oreal kajal in the Indo-French edition of My Envy Box this February (find the unboxing right here).

My Overview of the Product :
The packaging of the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold is very similar to most other kajals available in the market today, a retractable black pencil tube with a cap. The inscriptions are in golden. Nothing fancy, but sleek and handy. Coming to the pigmentation, it is extremely black and has a good color pay-off in just a single stroke. I haven’t used L’Oreal kajals before, so can’t say if it fares better than its predecessors.
The L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold is quite creamy in texture and glides on smoothly without ant tugging or pulling. It is also smudge-proof, so it is useful for a bold and dramatic eye, when you want that winged eyeliner or just an intense kajal for a minimal makeup look. It is easily applied on the upper and lower lash lines as well. The lasting power is impressive too. I use it on my waterline and it lasts me for a good 6 hours with minimal fading. The kajal is also easily removed using an eye makeup remover.
Comparison with the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal :
Price and Quantity : The L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold sells for INR 350 for 0.35g, while the Lakme Eyeconic comes cheaper at INR 199 for the same quantity.
Pigmentation and Color Pay-off : To be honest, I did not find any difference between the two kajals in terms of pigmentation. Both are just as black. Both also give intense color in a single stoke. But while the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal gives a matte look, the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold looks shinier on application.
Texture : Well, the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold is creamier than the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal, which is a little waxy on application. The very reason why the Lakme eyeconic performs better over shimmery eyeshadows, while the L’Oreal Kajal Magique tends to slip over shimmers.
Application : The Lakme Eyeconic Kajal is not as smudge-proof as the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold. But both have their uses. Those who are looking to create a soft, smudged-eye look or a smoky eye look, should definitely find the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal easier to work with. It really works beautifully in creating a just-woke-up eye look. And when you don’t have that time or energy to invest and just want bright, bold eyes, the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold should be the one to go for.
Longevity : Both the kajals have impressive lasting power, but I find the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal stays on for a tad longer than the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold.
The Final Verdict :
I am quite happy with both the kajals, though I prefer the Lakme Eyeconic kajal as I’m quite into soft eye makeup, and it works great in creating those slightly-smudged, straight-out-of-bed looks. But it is only a matter of personal preference. The L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold performs quite well in all the aspects and is a kajal I can rely upon to give me that clean, precise line when I’m really in a hurry. 🙂
My Rating : 4.5/5
