Hey everyone! The Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks launched a few months back with a unique formulation. I really wanted to try these moisturizing lip colors even when I am an ardent matte lip lover. But we all agree moisturizing lip colors are only so much forgiving on the lips. So I tend to switch over to the creamier formula at times. With the Absolute Argan Oil lipsticks, Lakme has launched quite a versatile range of colors. I picked up the shades Soft Mauve and Smooth Merlot, both of which I find pretty unique yet wearable. 🙂
Product Description :
It’s time to embrace the all new trend of “liquid gold” with a perfect stroke of Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color.
Infused with actual Moroccan argan oil, this lip color has the ultimate power to nourish your lips along with intense pigmentation. It has a creamy texture that delivers a smooth and silky finish. Available in 15 vibrant shades, the entire palette is suitable for Indian skin tones.
The Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks are available for INR 750 for 3.4g across all major e-commerce websites and at Lakme counters. I bought mine from Nykaa while they were running a discount.
My Overview of the Product :
I love Lakme 9 to 5’s slick rose-gold packaging. It is so pretty yet easy on the pockets. The Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks have a similar metallic packaging, but these are a metallic golden and are a tad bulkier than the 9 to 5 ones. I like how these look, and the shade names are at the bottom. The lipstick tubes come in a black cardboard box. A unique thing that I noticed with these lipsticks is that the lipstick bullet settles with a final click in the tube, not that you won’t know when it has hit the bottom, it still is an interesting feature. 🙂 Oh and it has the very same ‘click’ on the initial twist up too!
The texture of the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks is totally creamy, with an excellent pigmentation. I get an intense color pay off and opaque coverage in just a single swipe! However you can always layer it without the fear of creasing or flaking. The lipstick applies smoothly, but I feel a slight tug which is due to the color depositing on your lips. So this isn’t a big issue. 🙂 However, I do have a little problem with the girth of the lipstick. I find it a bit thicker while filling in the corners of my lips. It would be great if there was a pointed tip or a greater slant, or the bullet itself was slimmer. Those with thin lips may have this problem too. But nothing that a lip brush cannot fix. 😉
The formula of these lipsticks is hydrating and feels superbly comfortable on the lips. They do not accentuate fine lines, and fill them in with oozes of color resulting in a luscious pout. 😀 They have a satin finish, which is not transfer proof. But the staying power is impressive nonetheless. On me these lasted around 6 hours with a minimal fading and light snacks. However, these lippies do not survive proper meals. But even after fading off, they leave behind a subtle tint on the lips.
For the sake of testing, I had applied these without a lip primer or a lip balm, and I was happy to note that the formula of the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks delivered what it promised to. These are just as smooth, creamy and moisturizing on bare lips as on well-prepped lips. The velvety texture of these lipsticks keep chapping at bay and is a boon for those with dry lips. Even when these fade completely, the lips don’t scream for moisture. All of this because of the infusion of the precious “liquid gold” argan oil in the formulation. And oh, is the golden packaging indicative of the “liquid gold” in the ingredient list? Wow, how did I miss that? 🙂
The Shades :
Soft Mauve – A very wearable earthy mauve, suited for everyday wear. Perfect for a daytime wear. On me this looks more than just an MLBB shade. With a faint pop of color it plumps up the lips and I totally love it for being so easy-going. Beautiful shade.
Smooth Merlot – A burnt caramel shade, with red undertones. It is a very unique color that looks beautiful on every Indian skin tone. You can also describe it as a brownish red, on me it looks a little leaning towards maroon. No matter how you describe it, Smooth Merlot is a stunner. I’m not much into maroon-ish shades, but I love this one. It looks so rich and gorgeous. You can also try replacing your traditional red with Smooth Merlot for a more amped up look. 😉 This should also pair beautifully with black or the darkest green outfits.
The Final Verdict :
Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks are a pretty innovative bunch of lippies from the house of Lakme. These are infused with the goodness of argan oil, that make these utterly comfortable on the lips. The color payoff is amazing and the wear time pretty impressive. The packaging is classy too and the color options are many. These do not dry out lips even after few hours of wear and do not accentuate fine lines. Without a lip primer however, these can have a slight, barely noticeable drag while applying. But these are so forgiving on the lips. 🙂 I am quite happy with the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lipsticks, and loving both the shades that I got for myself. 🙂
My Rating : 4.5/5
