Hi everyone! March is behaving quite weird in my city. At times it rains and at times it doesn’t. Sometimes it’s wee bit chilly and at others, quite warm. No I don’t need wear sweaters though. They are all packed up and shoved in for the next winter. 🙂 Amidst all this, my skin gets confused too, can’t blame it anyway. At times my cheeks feel so dry like in the colder months, while at others my T-zone tends to get oily, with my pores prone to clogging. Thus it becomes imperative that I take good care of my skin at this time. Exfoliation is the key to keep those ugly heads at bay. And today I have the much loved Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub for review in my post.

The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub retails for INR 995 for 50g. It is available on Kama Ayurveda website or in-store. I got mine from Nykaa.
My Overview of the Product :
First off, the packaging. The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub comes in a dark glass jar with a saffron colored label and a sturdy plastic lid. A similarly-themed saffron hued cardboard box houses the jar. I quite like the reflective golden motifs across the packaging. There is also a secondary protective lid to avoid spillage (Kama does this to most of its products and I find it to be very thoughtful 🙂 ). Overall the packaging is very classy but not very travel-friendly. Furthermore there is a small wooden spatula included in it that helps scoop out desired quantity of the product. Commendable!
The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi face scrub has a buttery texture with visible brown exfoliating micro granules. It also has a warm, nutty fragrance with very mild hints of saffron. I’m not a fan of intense saffron fragrances if you may recall from my post here. Nevertheless, I quite like the fragrance of this scrub. It smells really pure without addition of any artificial perfuming agents. 🙂
I use this scrub post dampening my skin. The scrub feels extremely luxurious on the skin because of its creamy base. The exfoliating particles are non-abrasive and gently cleanse the skin. I massage it for around 3-4 minutes with more emphasis on the T-zone and chin, and wash it off with plain water. I’m glad my skin doesn’t scream moisture post using this scrub. Kumkumadi oil, the star ingredient weaves its magic right here. Consequently, the outcome is a fresh, glowing and radiant complexion. Yes it is all of it. My skin also feels soft to touch and smoother too. 🙂
The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub cleans clogged pores and clears greasiness off from my T-zone. However if you have deep-seated black- or white-heads, this may not deliver results in a single use. Although with consistent usage this surely will. The brightening effect is not very long lasting but that’s okay with me. I also didn’t notice major difference in old acne scars post using this.
A Small Note :
I would also like to mention that this scrub works equally great for normal to dry skin types. I had a friend use it on her and the results were instantly visible to me. She was fatigued from a long travel, but her normal skin type was instantly rejuvenated on using this scrub, revealing a fresher and brighter complexion. 🙂
A little about the major ingredients :
The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub has kumkumadi oil, which is deemed to be a miraculous oil for the skin. Saffron is a major ingredient in this oil. It works wonders in nourishing the skin and brightening it. The oil has anti-ageing properties as well.
[P.S.: If you are looking for supple, hydrated skin, a wonderful cruelty-free option is the Dot & Key Skin Awakening Moisture Boost Serum. Enriched with lavender oil and vitamins C & E, this serum gives the skin the much-needed hydration, apart from also soothing minor skin irritations!
The Final Verdict :
The Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub does everything that is expected from any other face scrub. It is gentle on the skin too and does not strip it of moisture. It additionally delivers a radiant complexion, “illuminating” it from within, just as claimed. I only need a small amount of it at a time so the 50g jar will last me quite a few months. I always spritz my face with the Kama rose water post using this scrub, which further relaxes and soothes a freshly exfoliated skin. Although I haven’t noticed drastic changes in old acne scars, but still I am pretty satisfied with what the product delivers at a chance. 🙂
