Hi everyone! I recently shared a bunch of products that I received from Humble Bee Luxury on my instagram page. And thank you for the overwhelming response. 🙂 As majority of you requested, I have the review of the orange body butter in today’s post.
About Humble Bee Luxury :
“Bee Beautiful… Be Humble… Be You… Humble Bee Luxury”
Handcrafted natural bathing essentials. Our products are 100% sourced from natural ingredients, paraben and chemical free.
Humble Bee Luxury is the brainchild of Harshil and Devashree, a couple based in Vadodara. Another indigenous brand cooking up recipes organic to the core, catering to skincare and bathing needs. I told you before and I tell so again, I’m so very proud of brands like Humble Bee Luxury and Aroma Essentials, who make wonderful products with so much skill and panache. Their products are just as effective and sans harmful chemicals. Could it get any better in the beauty game?
You can reach them on their instagram handle @humblebeeluxury, or whatsapp them on 90330 89007. They are pretty approachable and answer your queries really well.
My Experience with HBL Orange Body Butter :
The earth is but an orange,
Bathing in glory of golden rays,
And we are but so humble bees,
Oh so free in its lush green forests…
The scratchpad poetess in me just couldn’t help but connect the threads together. 😀
The body butter comes in a white tub with a screw lid, having a golden rim, and the logo of HBL – a cute little bee hovering over the name. I love their logo. That happy, humble bee is cuteness overload! Packaging is simple and neat, quite travel-friendly as well.
As I opened the tub, a beautiful, vibrant orange mass sat there, unexplored and inhibited. I realized, I have a thing for orange. A whiff of this, and waves of nostalgia rushes over me. Orange-flavored Sunfeast cream biscuits, textbooks and ink pens. Short pangs of appetites put to rest. Never an ardent lover of cream biscuits, orange-flavored ones were what I reached out to the most, back in childhood. Not sure if I can say the same now though.
Check out the composition –
Shea butter, Cocoa butter, Orange essential oil, Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Canola oil, Vitamin E, orange essence and non-synthetic natural food color.
A lot of nourishing ingredients lined up. Each with its own benefits. Amazed to find canola oil in the ingredient list. An unusual ingredient, Canola oil has high percentage of fatty acids. Jojoba oil known for resembling human sebum and antibacterial properties, along with Shea and cocoa butters having their own esteemed skincare benefits, this body butter is extremely rich in composition. Orange essential oil helps in collagen production, has anti-inflammatory properties, and finds therapeutic usage as a stress-buster. The citrusy fragrance induces a feel-good factor that calms anxiety and soothes the mind. I must say HBL has put in a lot of thoughts into making this body butter. Impressed with the thoughtful blend of ingredients.
The price point is a quite convenient as well, the 80gm tub comes for INR 700. Don’t judge yet, this product is 100% handmade and vegan, no parabens, no preservatives. Also I would any day prefer an 80-100 gm tub when I’m trying out a new product, rather than shelling out a lot for an enormous quantity, because I may end up disliking it later. It has happened before, so I know…
Texture and Application :
The texture of the body butter is soufflé-like, more like any edible home-made butter. Or if you have used TBS Argan Oil body butter, you’ll know what I mean. I scoop out some product and apply it directly on my skin. It warms up with the massage with palms, and soon melts turning into a creamier consistency. Sometimes I also warm it up between my palms, before applying to the skin. The product spreads nicely on the skin, and moisturizes pretty well. However it takes a little time before completely sinking in the epidermis. Not a problem for me though. It even leaves a slight sheen on the body that stays on for a while. You can actually see light reflecting from miniscule unmelted remnants of the butter if you look very closely. However it is only till the body heat completely dissolves and drinks it in no time. 🙂
The orange body butter does not feel sticky or greasy at all, and honestly I think it still does a great job at moisturizing. It is also very, very lightweight, which I particularly adore.I love body butters and tried out almost every variant from TBS, however this HBL body butter impressed me nonetheless. Of course you cannot expect factory-made commercial finesse, but hey, this body butter is handmade and it works perfectly well. It hydrates and nourishes my skin, keeping it soft and supple for the next 10-12 hours. So it does everything that body butters are supposed to do. I normally use it post bath, and sometimes at nighttime too.
On applying, the body butter actually emanates a full-on orange fragrance, sweet with only a citrusy hint. At first it may be a bit too strong, but it soon settles down to an understated sweet orange-y fragrance as I complete my application. I don’t find the fragrance very bothersome, but it truly exults my senses, covering the entire space around me in an aura of cheery delight. 🙂
One unusual thing I noticed was, it kinda stains my hands a little when I’m using a lot of it. A look at the ingredient list, and I realize it’s just the food-grade color I could easily wash off. However, I would love to see a detailed list of ingredients on their product packaging itself, and I conveyed the same to them. They said they are currently working on it, so that is good news! Since the body butter does not use any preservative, it has a shelf-life of 12 months, which is again a good count for a natural handmade product.
The Final Verdict :
The Humble Bee Orange Body Butter is the first deviation from my cult devotion to TBS body butters. But I’m pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product. The best part – it is intensely moisturizing. However I think I can also use it sparingly too during summer, because it is extremely lightweight and does not feel greasy on the skin. It absorbs well and keeps skin supple and moisturized for a good number of hours. This body butter is enriched with the nourishing goodness of so many amazing ingredients, which I find very impressive.
The HBL body butter is suitable for all skin types, and the packaging is very convenient. But extremely dry skin may need to layer it up, or apply in frequent intervals. I find the fragrance to be fun, and any orange-lover will loveit too. The price point is very good as well, given the quality of the product you get. I agree when Harshil says their brand is about affordable luxury. This body butter is complete skincare package for your body in the winters, that is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, handmade and chemical-free. Highly recommended. 🙂 You have to give this a try at least once! Just a word of caution, don’t be tempted to eat it..! 😀
